When the New Year rolls around, it feels like everyone is goal setting and making resolutions. Everyone is full of excitement about all the opportunity that the New Year brings. I am not an exception, I love setting goals at the beginning of the year. But what happens as time passes or you just did not get around to setting goals?
Or the year is halfway over and you may feel like your goals need to be revised? The truth is there is no right or wrong time to set goals or add new goals to your list. It is never too late to set goals.
Setting goals is simply a way for you to have something to move towards. To make sure you are moving in the right direction or know when you need to change directions. As a wife and a mother, it is easy for me to get caught up in the busyness of life. I find myself spinning my wheels more than actually moving forward. I know I am not alone.
It is especially important at times like this and every day to make sure the things we are doing has a purpose.
Careful planning puts you ahead in the long run; hurry and scurry puts you further behind.
Proverbs 21:5 (MSG)
We all have hopes, dreams, and visions for our lives, our families, and our marriages. By setting goals and writing them down, we can ensure we are actively moving towards them.
If you want to practice better self-care, than setting a goal to exercise two to three times a week might help. If you want to have a better marriage, than setting a goal to have a certain number of date nights each month might help. Or if you want to be a better mother, than setting a goal to spend a certain amount of quality time with your kids each day might help. The type of goals you can set are endless.
When setting goals, the most important thing it is not about when you set them or what the goals actually are. The most important thing is that you set and write them down.
So to help you get started, take this cute and simple printable, and then get to work setting goals!

This is a great printable! I love that you broke the goals out to cover all areas of our lives – it is so important to have goals that go beyond just our careers!

I like everything you said here. I just bought a planner last week! Good thing it’s from July 2018 to July 2019. It’s never too late to set goals; it doesn’t have to be on January 1st. Working out at least twice or thrice a week is probably the best way to start with self-care. I have only been doing it for two months, but I feel like I am happier than when I am not working out. 🙂

Setting goals is probably one of my absolute favorite things to do! It helps keep me on track and growing 🙂

I am a firm believer in goal-setting instead of resolutions, that way you’re working toward something rather than limiting yourself of something. I love that you’ve given yourself the flexibility to redefine your goals part-way through the year. It’s encouraged me to go back and look at the goals I set for myself at the beginning of the year.

As always, I feel refreshed and uplifted when I read your posts because you always bring Scripture into whatever inspiring topic you’re writing about!! Thanks for the reminder that I don’t need to wait for Jan. 1 or Monday or whatever to set some goals! 🙂

This is such a cute idea! I love it! XO ~Anna

I usually don’t make New Year’s resolutions. They seem made to be broken. But I am constantly evaluating myself and goals I’ve made.

For whatever it’s worth, at this time of year is the time I start setting new goals — not NYE.

This is such a great idea and the layout of this keeps everything easily organized. I was listening to this podcast that said if you wanted to achieve your goals , you had to visually keep them in front of you .

I love that you emphasize that it’s never to late to set a new goal or revise what you had planned. I think many can get disappointed and simply give up because things didn’t flow as expected. Great blog and love the printout! xo

Thanks so much, D. I found myself getting disappointed with not achieving certain goals, then I had to realize that I need to change my perspective and give myself a little bit more grace.
My husband and I go over our budget about once a month and this always ignites a talk about our goals for the year! It’s so important to touch back on your goals frequently so you don’t forget about them and lose steam!
Mariah
I love that, Mariah. My husband and I review our budget monthly as well, but not our goals. We will have to start doing that too.
I totally agree with writing down your goals. I need to write mine somewhere will I will see them every day.
I must be exhausted. I pasted the wrong site for my last post. Sigh! A very Me thing to do, but this is still great. Going to sit over my three day week and really give this the attention it needs going forward.
This is like a breath of fresh air in this crazy back to school season. I am all about revisiting, trashing what I do not need and creating what I do need. This printable will be a perfect start for this school year.
It’s so true! It’s not too late. One of my blogger friends (Marsha Apsley) always sends out her newsletters on Tuesday, to remind people that you don’t have to wait for a new day, new week, new month, or new year to start fresh and set goals. You start now, regardless of what yesterday looked like.
I love this, Ayanna! You’re absolutely right. It’s so easy to think that goals are to be set on Jan. 1 only, but it’s never too late to set new goals!
I’m glad I am not alone, Emily!
Now this I really like about goal setting. Putting it bold into my planner is perfect.
I’m so glad, Candy. Keeping mine in my planner helps me accountable.
September always seems like a new year, with back to school (even if you are no longer in school or don’t have kids going to school) so I think it’s a great time to revisit or set new goals. Thanks for the fun printable!!

I’m glad you like it, Lauren. Thinking of September like the start of new year is such a great perspective.
