Getting married may be an event, but being married is a journey. It takes daily commitment, growth, and work to not just take the journey. But also to build a marriage that is healthy, strong, and filled with joy.
To be the wise and loving wife we all strive to be, we must realize that we cannot build a strong marriage with a solid foundation alone.
A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.
Proverbs 14:1 (NLT)
Yes, we know we need God at the center and our husbands. Yet, we also need others as well. We need good examples of marriages around us, to look up to, and to gain advice from.
We need other married people and couples to support, encourage, give wisdom, and challenge us along the way.
These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children.
Titus 2:4 (NLT)
I do not know where my husband, Eric, and I would be in our marriage without the love and support we have received from other married couples. Not just from couples we know, but from those we have yet to meet. Those who have written some awesome books that have reached far beyond their circle of friends and help to transform marriages everywhere including mine.
Here are five books to transform your marriage. You, your husband, and your marriage will change and grow for the better.

1) The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman
Now this is a book that I know everyone as probably already heard of and been told to read more than once. If you have already read it, then I know you know how awesome it is. Yet for those who have yet to read it, PLEASE DO SO NOW!
The book “The 5 Love Languages” will help you to love your husband better and help him to love you better. This book walks you through the love languages, how to discover what yours are, and practical ways to speak your husband’s love language and vice versa.
Now if I’m honest, it took my husband and I 12 years to finally read this book. Then after reading it, we were surprised and grateful that we had survived this long, lol. We realized that we both did not really know each other’s love language or fully understand our own. Therefore we had not been loving each other the best way we could.
So please do not be like us. Watch your marriage be transformed by getting this book today here.
2) Dare To Love Your Husband Well by Sara Daigle
We all love our husbands, but how often do you focus on truly loving them well? This book will help you do just that. “Dare to Love Your Husband Well” is a 90-day devotional and journal that is coupled with scripture to help you to grow in your relationship with God and your husband.
While doing so you will see your marriage transformed through love over those 90 days as well. I loved how this book made me focus on finding ways to show my love in new and sometimes forgotten ways every day. This is definitely a dare all wives should take and you can get your copy here.
3) One Devotional by Jimmy Evans
Finding time to focus just on your marriage in the midst of your busy lives is not always easy. So finding ways to devote to growing as a couple with your husband that can fit within your already busy lives is awesome. This book the “One Devotional: 52 Weekly Marriage-Building Devotions for Thriving Couples” will help you do just that.
This is a devotional you do as a couple that will help you transform your marriage one week at a time. It gives you basic principles focused on one thing per week, discussion starters, and fun couple activities to do every week. You will be amazed at the conversations it prompts you to have and the ways you will grow as a couple every week. Get your copy here.
4) NIV Couples Devotional Bible by Zondervan
Growing together and study God’s Word together is so important in every marriage. The “NIV Couples Devotional Bible” is a great way for you to do just that.
This was one of my favorite gifts we received as newlyweds and it is a gift I have also given to others over the years. Nothing can transform you and your marriage the way the Bible can. So reading it together in a way that is focused on marriage is a win-win. Get your copy of one of these books to transform your marriage and possibly one to share here.
5) Boundaries In Marriage by Henry Cloud & John Townsend
Every relationship needs boundaries, and your marriage is no exception. I have written about boundaries often as well because they are so important. The book “Boundaries in Marriage” is a great resource as well.
Drawing the lines we need to protect us and our marriages is so important. This book helps you do just that. Giving you practical tips and the Biblical basis to help you create the boundaries your marriage may need that could transform it. Get your copy here.
Transforming your marriage will not happen in a day, but it can happen. Continuing to learn and grow in different areas will help you along the journey. These five books along with commitment and work can take your marriage from where it is today to where you always dreamed it could be.
